Samuel Appleby is a Brighton based fine arts creative, specialising in photography. Through book based photographic work, Appleby explores themes of political uncertainty, cultural heritage and social discourse through photographic series’ that encompass documentary and narrative story telling.
Appleby uses colour photography to develop and detail comprehensive documentary works, uniting the photographic image with archival material to scrutinise UK political policy and rhetoric. Inspired by community and culture, he endeavours to address and contextualise social and political affairs through the documentation of its impacts on our physical environments.
As part of his working practice, Appleby utilises 35mm and medium format film photography to compose photographic series for publication and exhibition. He studied at Kingston University, graduating with a Master degree in photography.
